First, consider the load type: radial load, axial load, or a combination of both. If radial load is dominant, deep groove ball bearings or cylindrical roller bearings may be suitable choices; if axial load prevails, thrust bearings can be considered. Second, take the load magnitude into account. For heavy-duty applications, it may be necessary to select cylindrical roller bearings, tapered roller bearings, or other types with high load-carrying capacity.
Taking rolling bearings as an example, they mainly consist of an outer ring, inner ring, rolling elements, and a cage. The outer ring is usually mounted in the bearing housing and provides a circular raceway for the rolling elements; the inner ring is fitted onto the shaft and rotates with it. The rolling elements (such as balls or rollers) sit on the raceways between the inner and outer rings, reducing friction through rolling. The cage functions to evenly space the rolling elements, prevent them from colliding and rubbing against each other, and guide them to roll along the correct raceways.
Bearing precision grades mainly include P0, P6, P5, P4, and P2 (from lowest to highest). Grade P0 is the general precision grade, suitable for general-purpose machinery and equipment such as ordinary electric motors and agricultural machinery. Grade P6 features higher precision and is used for equipment with relatively high rotational speed and moderate precision requirements, like the spindles of ordinary machine tools. Grade P5 offers even higher precision and is commonly applied to precision machine tools, precision instruments, and similar equipment. Grades P4 and P2 are high-precision grades, primarily used in aerospace, high-precision grinders, and other fields with extremely stringent rotational precision requirements.
Grease Lubrication: This is one of the most common lubrication methods. Lubricating grease is filled into the internal space of the bearing and adheres to the bearing via its viscosity, providing lubrication and sealing effects. This method is simple to operate and suitable for occasions with moderate rotational speeds and a wide operating temperature range, such as general industrial motors and small machinery. However, grease lubrication requires regular replenishment or replacement, as the grease will age and leak over long-term use.
